WISER signs major partnership with Women on Boards
Swiftly growing women’s network WISER (Women In Sustainable Energy & Resources) Inc. has announced a national partnership with Women on Boards (WOB Australia) to support its members prepare for board and leadership roles.
The partnership will see all WISER members receive a 12-month Premium+ membership of WOB Australia to kick-start and then support their journey to the boardroom.
Announcing the partnership, Joanne Bergamin, WISER chair, and Communications and Sustainability director at WISER Bronze Partner QEM Limited (ASX:QEM), said WOB had proven itself over many years to be very successful at equipping women for leadership and board roles.
“WISER chose WOB not simply for its authority in this space, but because it aligns strongly with our values of inclusivity and equity and shares our stated goals, in particular that of driving gender balance and representation for women in the critical energy and resources industries,” Bergamin said.
“We are after concrete results for our members, so they enjoy career progression within our industry, and so that our attraction and retention rates are positively impacted without delay. WOB’s willingness to work with us to create a unique offering for our members showcased their professionalism, agility and drive to support our growing community across the country.”
“Thanks to the support of our inaugural partners like Thiess, u&u. Recruitment Partners, Norton Rose Fulbright, QEM and Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners, we have subsidised WISER membership so that it is accessible to every woman in the industry. I am delighted to announce that today we welcomed our first cohort of 200 WISER members, soon to be onboarded by WOB.”
Welcoming the partnership, Claire Braund OAM, co-founder and Executive Director of WOB Australia, said the entire WOB team was delighted that it would be working closely with WISER and its members to drive a cultural shift in critical industries where many doors remained closed to women.
“There are resourceful, experienced and hugely skilled women in the energy and resources sectors who would add great value in many boardroom – particularly on the ASX small and mid-caps where representation of women remains low.”
“We also have a network of experienced and skilled women who serve on boards and committees around the country, and who will welcome the opportunity to put a hand out to the WISER network.”
Both Braund and Bergamin said they were looking forward to working together closely to reinvigorate opportunities for current and future generations of women to have long-term successful careers in the sustainable energy and resources sectors.
