WISER is very proud to collaborate with like-minded organisations focused on better outcomes for the women in our sector (and beyond).
UNIQ You
UNIQ You is a not-for-profit virtual service with a mission to increase the number of girls considering and pursuing roles and pathways into under-represented industries. In 2023, UNIQ You celebrated its second year of operation and reached 1,244 girls and 97 educators from across 37 schools. Now they are looking to scale up across energy and resources with the help of 20 WISER Advisors to help boost UNIQ You’s Advisor Library and reach their own diversity targets.
WISER also supports UNIQ You’s Scholarship Fund to provide subsidised access to their service to regional and remote schools.
In April 2024, WISER showcased UNIQ You’s vision to enable high school girls to understand the career opportunities available in mining and energy at a breakfast event hosted by WISER Silver Partner u&u Recruitment Partners.
“WISER and UNIQ You are doing things differently,” said UNIQ You CEO Val Ridley. “Together we are changing the narrative. See it. Be it.”
IWIMRA
Indigenous Women in Mining and Resources Australia (IWIMRA) was founded in 2017 to create a stronger connection amongst Indigenous women in Australia’s Mining and Resource sector, and to raise their profile. Indigenous women are identified as the cornerstone of many families and communities. Indigenous women's participation and influence in the industry can be utilised to strengthen relations within the Indigenous workforce, to promote retention initiatives. From a global perspective, Indigenous women are identified as most vulnerable, in their opportunities to innovate with the fast-paced society. The mining and resources industry is informed by global instruments such as the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
WISER is working with IWIMRA to improve the outcomes for all women who touch upon our sector. WISER commits to offering Indigenous women up to 10% of the available WOB memberships and course places, including any additional support which may be needed to take up these places. WISER and IWIMRA are completely united in their intention of leaving no woman in the industry behind.
Women on Boards (WOB)
Women on Boards (WOB) has been supporting, connecting and empowering women on their board and leadership journey since 2006 while working to address gender inequity in the boardroom and across leadership roles.
In July 2024, WISER announced a major partnership with WOB which sees all WISER members receive a 12-month Premium+ membership of WOB Australia to kick-start and then support their journey to the boardroom.
